Dhrista bhaav or witnessing attitude is one of the prime teaching of ShivYog. Practising to be in this mode helps one develop a detached attitude towards the unfavourable circumstances of life by being non-reactive and thus not aggravating the situation or end up creating more karmas in the process. In all situations of life - happy, sad, prideful, remorseful, etc one begins becoming the silent observer and thus developing a very strong inner personality and at the same time dealing with one's karmas peacefully and tactfully.
